RESEARCH FIELD

  • My current research focuses on organizational theory and strategy in general and social network theory in particular. Broadly speaking, I am interested in how managers get things done through people, with central attention given to "organizing process." In this connection, I specifically consider how structural (or topological) properties of social network, whether at the actor level or at the system level, such as centrality, structural holes, role equivalence, core/periphery, and embeddedness influence an agent's behavior and performance in a variety of business settings. I am also interested in how network evolves with reference to an individual actor's agency and how it shapes social construction processes of market in regard to reputation and status. From a bit different angle, I also examine how corporate governance regulates firm behavior in the Korean context.
